Demeter is the goddess who makes everything grow and bloom. Het daughter Persephone is very beautiful, but Demeter does not want her to marry .. then Persephone is kidnapped by Hades, the god of the underworld. Demeter is heartbroken and everything on earth withers and dies. It is winter... Through intervention of Zeus, Persephone finally has to be with Hades for 4 months a year and she is allowed to return to Demeter for the other 8 months. When she leaves the underworld, spring starts.
