Tide coming in in the bay of the Somme. This is a large estuary in the North of France that covers a total area of 72 km2. The bay drains six rivers into the English Channel, principally the River Somme. When the tide is out, one can cross the wide, flat areas of marsh and sand to the other side. However, when the tide rises, the bay fills rapidly and a boat is needed for the crossing.

Over Christina Cornelis
Christina Cornelis is geboren in 1962 in Zeeuws Vlaanderen. Als kind kreeg zij schilderles van kunstschilder Cees van Langevelde aan de Vlooswijkstraat in Terneuzen. Sinds 2006 heeft zij het schilderen weer opgepakt met lessen bij Caroline Stuyfzand in Heemstede en in het Bretonse atelier van Marielle Gallo, waar zij zich bekwaamde in aquarel en pastel. In 2012 en 2013 wijdde zij zich in het atelier van Stijn Molenkamp aan gemengde technieken, stilleven en modeltekenen. Zij volgde lessen aquarel bij Xavier Swolfs, David Chauvin en Ewa Karpinska, en abstract, gouache en gemengde technieken bij Marianne Polhout en Kees van Aalst.
